I wear a mask in public not just for myself but for everyone else around me. You think I’m over dramatic, being ridiculous or better yet, crazy? Well good. I’m glad. Go ahead think it… but read on!
I wear a mask in public for the elderly couple I just passed in the grocery store trying to get the essentials so they can go back home, stay safe, healthy and live another day.
I wear a mask in public for the single mom and her kids (yeah the single mom that brought her kids to the grocery store because that’s her only option)! She isn’t able to ask someone to watch her kids right now so she can go to the store alone. If she doesn’t go to the grocery story this week, she will not be able to feed her family.
I wear a mask in public for the child or adult that has a pre existing condition that is fighting for their life every day. Yeah, the person that if they were to get a simple cold that could be the end!
I wear a mask in public for the amazing grocery store and gas station workers that are tirelessly working every day to keep food and essentials on the shelves for all of us! They are not just putting their lives at risk, they are putting their families lives at risk as well, while they go to work every day to keep the stores open for US!
I wear a mask in public for all of the brave medical professionals that are working endless hours, not seeing their families, literally putting their lives on the line every single day to SAVE PEOPLES LIVES!
I wear a mask in public not just for me but for you, your family, your friends and your loved ones.
I wear a mask in public for my beautiful and wonderful Mother, who has a heart condition that has been in and out of the hospital since last year fighting and working on getting stronger so she can go back to living a new “normal” life.
I wear a mask in public for my Grandma that has been in an out of the hospital this year for a heart condition that easily could have taken her life. After being in the hospital she was transferred to a nursing home, to get stronger, during this pandemic where we were not able to see her, hug her or talk to her face to face. Now that she is home, Thank God, I wear a mask for her and my Grandpa, so they both can work on getting stronger and staying healthy. I stand outside of their kitchen window, in rain or shine, seeing them through the window, while talking to them on the phone. BECAUSE THAT’S THE RIGHT THING TO DO! (Update – Rest In Peace my beautiful Grandma Guardian Angel)
If you’re not working or at the grocery store – STAY HOME. Practice safe social distancing, not just for you, but for everyone else around you!
Now if you’re one of those people that think or say, “Oh this won’t happen to me”, “Oh there’s not many cases confirmed around where we live, I’m fine going out, spending time with extended family or friends” and not social distancing… SHAME ON YOU! My gosh, please stop thinking about just yourself and think about everyone else around you and who you are affecting!
I know what you’re thinking… Who is this 31 year old girl? Who does she think she is!? I know I’m not doctor, researcher, the media or the government. But yes, I am a 31 year old American woman that truly cares for everyone and doesn’t want to see anyone get sick or die. I CARE!
I CARE about you! I CARE about your mother your father, your sister, your brother, your wife, your husband, your significant other, your kids, your nephew, your niece, your grandma, your grandpa, all of your family, your friends, your coworkers, you mailman (or mail woman), your delivery driver, and everyone else in this entire world… I CARE ABOUT THEM!
Who do you care so much about that you’d wear a mask in public for?
Update: It pains me to write this but we lost my beautiful Grandma on June 7, 2020. I know she’s in a better place watching out for all of us, but it’s still not easy. Below are a few links about my amazing Grandma!
